Prof. M Krishna Gowda, of St. Philomena’s Kannada dept., has been invited to the Singapore Kannadigara Sahitya Sammelan (Nov.13). The invitation is in recognition of Prof. Gowda’s contribution to Kannada literature.
The good professor's name is spelt wrong. Should be Krishne Gowda not Krishna Gowda A Kannadiga would have known automatically to correct the spelling. The professor's comedy routine in the last Kannada Koota worldwide meet in Orlando, FLA got to be repetitive and thus tiresome in that very meet itself. The Singapore folks should have perhaps invited top notch Kannada scholars such as Profs Panditaradhya, Ramachandrappa (authority on Kuvempu's writings) and the extraordinarly humorous scholar Prof Aaa Raa Mitra.
Intellectual development has taken precedence over instilling human values. Assimilating information alone does not constitute education. Nor does it make a person ‘complete’ – Mr Krishe Gowda, releasing ‘Vivekajyoti’, a commemorative issue, on the eighth annual day celebrations of SVEI School (The Hindu, Dec.20, 2005)
